  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Salah and Klopp argued on the touchline after the coach said something to the player as he prepared to be substituted on during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with West Ham. The Egypt star refused to comment on the incident after the game, saying that "there will be fire" if he talked about it.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ex-England and Newcastle striker Shearer, who is the Premier League's all-time record goalscorer, says Salah was right to be annoyed because he was left out of the starting XI for the match in London, which essentially put an end to the Reds' hopes of winning the Premier League title before Klopp's summer departure.

  • WHAT SHEARER SAID

Shearer said on Match of the Day: "We don’t know what Klopp has said to him there, he’s said something that has riled him. He’s obviously got the right hump with being left out and probably rightly so. Even though he hasn’t hit the heights that Mo Salah has done over the years, he’s been unbelievable. He ignores Jurgen, gives the Liverpool fans a little round of applause and goes straight down the tunnel but we’re guessing as to what Jurgen said to him. I understand if Mo has got the right hump because the number of times he’s been Liverpool’s saviour and Liverpool’s superstar… He’s got 17 in 25 league starts. Anyone else you’d look at that and think that was unbelievable. It’s a shame it’s going to end like that."

    WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

Klopp will hope there is no bitterness from Salah as his team head into a Premier League showdown against Tottenham next week. They will then visit Aston Villa on May 13 before closing the campaign with a home game against Wolves.
