Michail Antonio discharged from hospital after horror car crash as West Ham prepare to open contract extension talks with star striker

Antonio is on the mend after being discharged from hospital following a horrific car crash in Essex earlier in December. Pictures emerged of the West Ham striker's Ferrari completely wrecked during Storm Darragh. The Jamaica international suffered a broken leg in the crash but is now recovering at home ahead of the New Year.

The 34-year-old is not expected to play again for the Hammers this season, and his contract is due to expire in the summer. However, according to The Times, West Ham are preparing to open contract extension talks with Antonio, who has scored 83 goals in 323 appearances for the club since his 2015 move from Nottingham Forest.

West Ham raised roughly £60,000 ($75,000) through an auction of signed tops and kit worn in the recent win over Wolves, and the money will be split between the NHS and Air Ambulances UK as a show of gratitude for the help they gave Antonio after his harrowing car crash.

There is still little known about Antonio's state or the cause of the crash. With the forward turning 35 next year, West Ham have a big decision to make on a player who is reportedly fighting to save his career after suffering such a serious injury.
