Marcus Rashford accused of 'walking around' in Man Utd's Premier League match with Brentford as England forward's 'heartbreaking' season continues

Redknapp accused Rashford of being lazy on the pitch as he claimed that the English forward was walking around on the pitch and did not give much effort during the club's 1-1 draw against Brentford on Saturday. Mason Mount broke the deadlock in the 95th minute of the game while the hosts came back strongly with an equaliser three minutes later.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said, "I think Man United fans would have been really looking forward to tonight after what was the back of brilliant result against Liverpool, and you thought it might have turned their season around. They have been so bad tonight. I cannot believe the lack of effort, the lack of spark and desire to win individual battles to make things happen in that team.

"Watching Marcus Rashford he's walking around like it's a bit of fun out there. It's the Premier League. You've got to try to win games. We've been amazed at how poor Manchester United have been."

The England international forward has struggled to find form in the current season after scoring 30 goals across all competitions during the 2022/23 campaign. Expressing his disappointment over Rashford's lack of form this year, Redknapp added, "Marcus Rashford is a player with so much talent. God-given talent, he's got everything. He's got an incredible physique, he can run, he can dribble, he can shoot, he got 30 goals last year. I look at a player right now. I think he's on eight goals, seven in the Premier League, and one in the in the FA Cup. He just looks like he's not enjoying his football. And for me, it's quite heartbreaking because he's got so much talent, I just want to see more.

"I want to see him smile. You know, we know Marcus Rashford is possibly the best player they have in regards to natural talent. And he can do things when he wants to do things. I just want Marcus Rashford to be enjoying his football again. I don't know what's going on away from football with Marcus. But when I see him on the pitch, I don't see him smile enough. And I want to see him enjoying his football again. Because if I see that, then he'll be tearing it up. And he'll be scoring goals and he will be the best on the left-hand side in the world which he can be."

Erik ten Hag's side will next face Chelsea in a difficult Premier League encounter on Thursday at Stamford Bridge.
