'Annoying' - Man Utd hitman Rasmus Hojlund reflects on long-forgotten Premier League goal drought after bagging brace at Luton

The youngster had a nightmare start to his campaign at Old Trafford having failed to score a goal in his first 14 Premier League matches. However, he has been on a roll since January and has now scored seven times in the last six matches.

After scoring a brace against Luton Town which helped his team clinch their fourth consecutive win in the league, the star player thanked his colleagues and manager Erik ten Hag for backing him during his poor run of form.

Speaking to reporters after the Luton clash, Hojlund said, "Let me say thanks to my teammates and the coach because they have shown me great confidence and kept believing in me. I knew as well that I could score goals but of course, it was annoying I didn't score in the Premier League. Now, I want to keep going."

He added, "It was a massive win today and we’re closing the gap to Spurs who lost points, and (Aston) Villa and they have to play each other soon so we need to keep pushing. It’s our target to get Champions League football again and to go as far in the FA Cup as possible, it’s our target to win trophies. We will go as far as we can to win everything."

The former Atalanta striker scripted Premier League history at Kenilworth Road as he became the youngest player in history to score in six successive league games, at the age of 21 years and 14 days.

The Red Devils will aim to extend their winning streak and close in on fourth-placed Aston Villa on Saturday when they take on Fulham.
