Man Utd player ratings vs Fulham: Bruno Fernandes inspires crazy comeback after Aleksandar Mitrovic loses his mind

It was a whirlwind turnaround for Manchester United as they came from behind to beat Fulham 3-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United's success was more down to a meltdown on the part of the visitors, who gave away a penalty and saw two players – Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic – and coach Marco Silva all sent off within seconds of each other.

Erik ten Hag's men had been rather woeful until that point, falling behind through a Mitrovic goal early in the second half.

But Willian's handball and Mitrovic's ridiculous push on the referee gave United the upper hand.

Bruno Fernandes then converted the all-important penalty two minutes before Marcel Sabitzer added a second. Fernandes then smashed in a third late on.

    Goalkeeper & Defence

    David de Gea (7/10):

Pulled off some really good saves in the second half but his passing was off in this game, putting his team under pressure in the first half.

    Aaron Wan-Bissaka (5/10):

Always reluctant to close opponents down on the wing. He got forward a lot but offered very little.

    Harry Maguire (5/10):

Another performance highlighting why he is not trusted to start regularly. Too slow and affects the rest of the team.

    Lisandro Martinez (6/10):

United fans are used to a much stronger display from him. He was reliable in possession but lacked fight defensively.

    Luke Shaw (5/10):

Caught on the wrong side of Mitrovic for the opening goal and made a couple of tackles but not good enough on the ball until his late assist for Sabitzer.

    Midfield

    Scott McTominay (4/10):

Absent for long spells of this game. Tried to help offer support in attack a couple of times but nothing went his way. Subbed off before the hour mark.

    Marcel Sabitzer (7/10):

Made some good attacking runs to offer himself as a link between the midfield and forwards. Was well-placed to get the winning goal, which he took wonderfully well.

    Bruno Fernandes (8/10):

Was heavily involved and made some good passes but team-mates constantly slowed down attacks as they got forward, which frustrated him enormously. However, he converted the penalty well before lashing in the third to wrap things up.

    Attack

    Jadon Sancho (6/10):

Won his team a penalty that sent Fulham into a few moments of madness. Took too many touches for what should have been a simple finish but it all paid off in the end.

    Wout Weghorst (5/10):

Not at his best here. Tried to lead the press on his own but no threat on the ball and a bit slow.

    Marcus Rashford (6/10):

A fairly quiet performance from the England star, who didn't cause Fulham too many problems.

    Subs & Manager

    Antony (7/10):

Came on just before the hour mark and set up Sancho for a great move that resulted in his side's penalty. Had another threatening run that saw him come close to scoring.

    Fred (7/10):

Only introduced in the closing stages but helped himself to an assist for Bruno's killer third goal.

    Erik ten Hag (4/10):

His team were terrible in the first half and only slightly improved in the second until Fulham's incredible implosion.
