  • WHAT HAPPENED?

United were beaten 1-0 by Wolves on Sunday in the latest embarrassing chapter in a dire season. The club are now level on points with the Molineux outfit, who were previously in the relegation mix, and Wolves' win consigned the Red Devils to their eighth home defeat of the Premier league campaign. The last time they endured such a dismal home record was in 1962-63, when they lost nine games, and finished 19th in a 21-team First Division.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the 1962-63 season, United did manage to win the FA Cup and manager Ruben Amorim can still end this season with silverware. The Red Devils remain in the Europa League and face Athletic Club in the semi-finals, but their league form has been continually awful.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

With five games of United's league season remaining, they can reach a maximum of 53 points. The highest possible position they can finish in is eighth, although that would require them to win all of their remaining games.
