  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Per Trivela, United have identified Andre as a potential alternative to Ugarte, who they have been pursuing throughout the summer. Erik ten Hag is said to be keen to add a new midfielder to his squad this summer and United are reported to have agreed personal terms with the Uruguay international, having proposed a loan-to-buy deal. United want to pay €60 million (£51m/$67m) at the end of the spell, but Paris Saint-Germain would prefer to receive a chunk up front.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Now, though, it appears United are exploring alternative options. According to the new report, the club have identified Andre and could sign him for a third of the price for Ugarte. Fluminense rejected a bid from Fulham worth €25m (£21m/$28m) earlier this summer and he has also been linked with Liverpool.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Ugarte is represented by Jorge Mendes and Andre's agent, Carlos Leite, is said to have contacted the Portuguese representative to help move the Fluminense star to Europe. Of course, Mendes may also be positioning himself to ensure that he receives a cut of either deal, depending on which midfielder United choose to sign.
