Man Utd make move for €40m Sporting CP star! Red Devils enter talks over summer deal for Geovany Quenda as Ruben Amorim eyes reunion

Manchester United's PSR restraints may be preventing them from making too many moves in the January transfer market, but the Red Devils are planning ahead for the summer by plotting a move for Sporting star Geovany Quenda, according to The Athletic. The 17-year-old would cost around €40 million (£33.4m/$41.5m) in a deal that would pair him back up with head coach Ruben Amorim.

Quenda can play on either the left or right flank but has been operating more on the right-hand side for Sporting this season. His profile perfectly suits Amorim's style of play and the Portugal youth international would slot in as either a winger or wing-back.

Quenda has made 34 appearances for Sporting this term, scoring two goals and adding six assists. Last season under Amorim, he featured 33 times across all competitions, netting 11 times and adding a further nine assists.

While United are currently prioritising their winter market, work is going on behind the scenes to lay the foundations for Quenda's Old Trafford arrival. He would likely partner the incoming Patrick Dorgu as Amorim's wing-back pairing.
