  • Commissioned report on project's economic implications
  • Red Devils to begin Europa League journey this week
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Red Devils had commissioned Oxford Economics - one of the world's top global advisory firms - to assess the economic impact of their ambitious project of building a new 100,000-seater stadium. The preliminary assessment has revealed that the project could provide a whopping £7.3bn boost to the UK economy every year, as claimed by the club. United are already working on a masterplan to redevelop the area around Old Trafford.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The new project will involve the creation of 92,000 job opportunities and 17,000 new homes. The new Trafford Park will see the club construct a world-class 100,00 seater stadium and several other mixed-used developments that will benefit the local community. It will attract visitors from Manchester, UK and across the world, the club says.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

United's new partial-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is also the UK's richest man, has made the rebuilding of the club's iconic stadium his top priority ever since he bought a minority stake at the club.
