    WHAT HAPPENED?

Guardiola has created an empire at Manchester City since he joined the club in 2016, and that empire may be creeping to an end with the Spaniard reportedly not looking to renew his contract as he looks towards his next venture. However, City have reportedly drawn up a plan to try and keep him past the summer of 2025 with Sheikh Mansour set to lead the charge.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

As per a report by The Mirror, Guardiola made a trip to Abu Dhabi and met with Sheikh Mansour at his home. City's current contract with Guardiola expires on 30 June 2025, two weeks before the start of the new format of the FIFA Club World Cup. They hope that the opportunity to lead his side at the tournament could be something that entices the 53-year-old to remain at the club. The eight-time Premier League winners are also ready to offer a significant bump to Guardiola's current £20 million-a-year ($25.3m) wages.
