Jeremy Doku's electric second-half helped spark a comeback to see reigning Premier League champions Manchester City maintain their 100 percent start to the campaign with victory over West Ham on Saturday.

In their biggest test yet this season, West Ham had City on their toes throughout the entire 90 minutes. However, there's a reason that Pep Guardiola's side won the treble last campaign and their resiliency in east London showed just why.

Following an underwhelming first 45 minutes that saw the Hammers go into the break with a 1-0 lead, courtesy of James Ward-Prowse's diving header, City came out of the half-time tunnel looking like a new side.

Summer arrival Doku announced himself to the rest of the Premier League with a blistering performance, scoring City's first just minutes after the break. He sparked their comeback, while Julian Alvarez took advantage of his starting minutes with two assists himself, including Doku's opener.

Talisman Erling Haaland was kept quiet throughout most of the contest, but the Norweigan found the back of the net late with the dagger that saw City earn all three points after Bernardo Silva had put them ahead. Haaland's effort made it three-straight matches with a goal and his seventh of the season.

GOAL rates Man City players from London Stadium...

    Goalkeeper & Defence

    Ederson (7/10):

Did what was asked of him when called upon.

    Kyle Walker (7/10) :

Struggled a bit with Paqueta, but closed it down in the second-half.

    Ruben Dias (7/10):

Rock-solid defensively and fought off Antonio well.

    Manuel Akanji (7/10):

Went head-to-head with Antonio on the flank multiple times and won nearly every battle.

    Josko Gvardiol (6/10):

Some sloppy passes in the final-third and a miscued shot summed up his day.

  • Bernardo Silva Manchester City 2023-24Getty Images

    Midfield

    Rodri (7/10):

Controlled the tempo of the match centrally and was a driving force on the counter.

    Bernardo Silva (7/10):

Scored the second goal for City, but struggled in a deeper role than normal.

  • Jeremy Doku Man City 2023Getty Images

    Attack

    Julian Alvarez (8/10):

Assisted both goals on the day, was always in the right place at the right time.

    Erling Haaland (7/10):

An unusual performance from their Norwegian as he missed multiple opportunities before finally finding the back of the net in the 86th minute.

    Jeremy Doku (8/10):

A true 'Welcome to the Premier League' match, Doku was City's best player on the day and their first scorer of the match as well.

    Phill Foden (5/10):

Had an underwhelming performance with very little impact on the attack. Was replaced by Nunes midway through the second-half.
