Lip reader reveals what Mohamed Salah said to Jurgen Klopp in touchline row during Liverpool's clash with West Ham

The incident erupted when Salah was preparing to come on for Liverpool against West Ham, at which point he was briefly engaged in a blunt discussion with Klopp. The situation only seemed to go up a level when Salah said after the match: "If I speak, there will be fire."

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed "the only reason" Klopp would have been unhappy with Salah would have been if the Egyptian had taken too long to get ready to come on.

According to professional lip reader John Cassidy, speaking to SPORTBible, Salah said to Klopp: "There's nothing I can do about that, nothing."

Klopp's response was obscured to the camera, at which point Salah seemed to lose his cool and allegedly replied: "I will, I will get a red card, after seven years, after seven years' service, after seven years!"

With Salah's form in 2024 far from his best after a recent muscle injury and a new era being ushered in at Liverpool, speculation was rife after the game that the Egyptian could soon move on. The Saudi Pro League has made little secret of interest in Salah, who has been the world's leading Arabic footballer for the best part of a decade and could become one of the faces of the competition.

The Athletic reports that Liverpool are planning for Salah to be part of their squad next season. He isn't thought to have shown any desire to leave and the Reds aren't trying to move him on. The Saudi Pro League are pursuing Salah less aggressively than in 2023 and could wait until 2025 when he might be a free agent.
