  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal have been locked in negotiations with Valencia over the past month or so and look to be finally closing in on a deal for Mosquera. THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mosquera's arrival will add greater depth to Arsenal's options at centre-back. The combination of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes is Mikel Arteta's first choice partnership but Mosquera is only 21 years of age and has earned rave reviews for his performances for Valencia in Spain.

  • WHAT MOSQUERA SAID

Speaking before his plane departed for London, Mosquera told Superdeporte: "Let’s see how everything turns out. The club is the one that has to speak."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Mosquera made his La Liga debut in January 2022 and has enjoyed regular game time over the past two seasons. He was also part of the Spanish squad that won gold in the men's football event at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

Mosquera is set to become Arsenal's latest incoming arrival after the north London giants secured transfers for Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard. Noni Madueke's move from city rivals Chelsea is expected to be made official soon, while there is also hope a deal for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres will get over the line.
