Jorginho's future decided! Arsenal set to keep midfielder in January as Brazil-born Italian agrees pre-contract to join Flamengo in the summer

Reports from January suggested that Brazilian Serie A side Flamengo had contacted Arsenal over a move for midfielder Jorginho during the winter transfer window with the Brazil-born Italian international's contract set to expire in the summer. However, the Gunners were keen on keeping the veteran at the Emirates until the end of the season, as they remain alive in the hunt for all four trophies this season, and turned down Flamengo's attempts to sign Jorginho.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has now reported that Flamengo have now signed a pre-contract deal with Jorginho over a move this summer to confirm that the midfielder would stay at Arsenal until the end of the season. The 33-year-old will join the Brazilian Serie A side ahead of their participation in the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States.

If Jorginho does join Flamengo in time for their 2025 Club World Cup group-stage clashes in June, he could potentially line up for the Brazilian side against his former club Chelsea on June 20 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The Brazil-born Italian international has not been as pivotal to Mikel Arteta's side this season as he has fallen down the pecking order with Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino being utilised more. However, Jorginho remains an important squad member and could be key to the Gunners' season.
