Ruiz, who played in Toluca’s Apertura 2025 opener and is expected to feature against Santos Laguna on July 16, has attracted interest not only from England. French club OGC Nice and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach have also made inquiries, although Ipswich appear to be furthest along in negotiations.
The midfielder’s stock has risen sharply over the past year. He played a pivotal role in Toluca’s Clausura 2025 title run and later established himself as a starter for El Tri during their Gold Cup triumph. While Nice and Gladbach are still in the scouting phase, Ipswich have made their intentions clear with a concrete offer, giving them an edge in the race.
As things stand, Ruiz remains a Toluca player - but his future could be decided very soon. All eyes will be on the club’s response and whether Ruiz becomes the latest Liga MX talent to make the jump across the Atlantic.
