Hungary Euro 2024 squad: Who Marco Rossi is bringing to European Championship

As of 2023, Hungary have participated in four UEFA European Championships and is set for its fifth appearance in 2024.

In the 1964 European Nations' Cup, Hungary secured third place by winning their play-off against Denmark, and they finished fourth in Euro 1972.

Their most notable recent performance was in the 2016 edition, where Hungary reached the round of 16 after topping their group. This achievement marked their best result in almost forty years. Although they qualified for Euro 2020 as one of the eleven host countries, Hungary were eliminated in the group stage.

They will be looking to beat their best result when they head for the 2024 edition. The squad for the tournament was announced on May 15. Who has made Marco Rossi's squad for the Euro 2024? GOAL takes a look...

RB Leipzig's Peter Gulacsi will be relishing the opportunity to shine on the European stage this year. The 33-year-old, who is already past 50 national team caps, is undoubtedly Hungary's first-choice in between the sticks. He is expected to fully recover from his injury before the tournament.

Standing by to take over just in case the situation demands it will be Denes Dibusz.

    MIDFIELDERS

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will be a key figure in the midfield for Hungary at the Euro 2024. He is currently the highest-scoring midfielder in the national team.

The team is fully stacked in midfield with a lot of talented players and hence, competition for places will be highest in this section of the field.

Supporting Szoboszlai and fighting for spots in the starting lineup will be the likes of Adam Nagy, Loic Nego and Laszlo Kleinheisler.
