    WHAT HAPPENED?

With the Liguilla just around the corner and the Concachampions entering its decisive phase, Cruz Azul is riding a wave of momentum, and firmly believes in its collective strength to chase glory on both fronts.

In the midst of this intense stretch, Luka Romero made it clear in an interview with RÉCORD that the team’s ambition is to win both titles.

“Yes, of course we believe in the double. We fight for everything we play,” said Romero. “We're really excited for the matches ahead, and we’re going into them with maximum ambition.”

Romero emphasized that this isn’t just a dream - it’s a realistic goal, thanks to the strong team chemistry and consistent performances La Máquina has shown throughout the season.

“It’s a real goal, obviously. We have a great squad, we’re doing things right, and we’re going to keep pushing forward,” he added. “The locker room is united."

In response to recent comments made by Gustavo Mendoza, who suggested internal problems within the Cruz Azul squad, Romero was quick to shut down speculation. On the contrary, he highlighted the strong bond among the team.

“That’s completely false. The locker room is very united. Everyone’s on the same page - from the staff to the players and the coaching team. Honestly, I was surprised by how tight things are here. That’s why I’m so happy at Cruz Azul - I enjoy every single day,” he said.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Cruz Azul is riding a strong wave of momentum under the leadership of Vicente Sánchez. With an impressive streak of 13 unbeaten matches, La Máquina heads into the final stretch of the season determined to win two tournaments - the Champions Cup and Liga MX.

It’s been three and a half years since Cruz Azul last claimed a title in Mexican football, and it seems like the perfect time to challenge América’s dominance. However, standing in their way are other powerful teams like Toluca, Tigres, and América itself.

    WHAT CARLOS ROTONDI SAID

Carlos Rotondi also denied that the locker room is divided.

"I honestly don’t know where those rumors come from," he said, "but I think you can see on the field and in the stadium the connection we have with the fans, how they feel represented, how we feel with Vicente, the goal celebrations - there’s a really great atmosphere right now."

    WHAT NEXT FOR CRUZ AZUL?

Cruz Azul faces Toluca, and while the top spot is now out of reach - already claimed by the Diablos - they can’t afford to drop points. Securing second place is crucial as they head into the Liguilla.
