'You're a c***!' - Gary Lineker’s X-rated mic check with Alan Shearer leaves Match of the Day host crying with laughter

The former England international strikers were preparing to discuss goings on at Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal in action on the field behind Shearer. Lineker, with the cameras not yet rolling, was eager to discover whether his fellow pundit could hear him.

After initially being ignored by the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer, Lineker decided that his best bet was to turn the air blue. It quickly became apparent that Newcastle legend Shearer’s microphone and headset were working just fine.

Shearer responded to Lineker by saying “thank you” and “love you too”, with the pair seeing the funny side of their unscripted exchange. Fortunately for BBC presenter Lineker, he was not live at the time – but the incident was caught on camera.

Lineker has been left rolling with laughter after seeing a social media user make the clip in question available for the world to see. Questions have been asked of Lineker’s future as host of Match of the Day after he was overlooked by the BBC to host their new Champions League highlights show.
