    WHAT HAPPENED?

With Euro 2024 in Germany set to begin in just longer than a month, all national team bosses will be hard at work to pick out their squads, and the same will be the case with England boss Gareth Southgate. The 53-year-old has major decisions to make before the squad announcement, especially in the striker position, and Iraola believes that Solanke deserves a spot ahead of his competition due to his showings this season.

    WHAT IRAOLA SAID

Speaking to the media, Iraola said: "Solanke's selection to England's Euro squad? I don't know what more he can do. He is playing very well and he scored a great header today. But it is not just about the finishing, it's about everything else he gives to the team. I think he's very complete and I think he will be there. He has been really consistent and proven he is a very good player."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Indeed it will be a very tight call for Southgate as he will have to choose from the likes of Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney, and Harry Kane, who will be the first name on the teamsheet, for the role of striker. Additionally, with the form of Cole Palmer among others, it will be very unlikely that the Bournemouth striker will get the nod for this year's Euro squad.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR SOLANKE?

All that Solanke can do for now is give his best in the remaining two games of the season and hope that his performances will force Southgate to include him in England's travelling squad for the Euros.
