Everton have confirmed that Christopher Sarofim will join the club's ownership group, Roundhouse Capital. THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sarofim is said to have a personal wealth of over $3.7bn (£2.7bn) but his money is not going directly into the club and is instead going into Roundhouse. They are continuing to search for sources of investment and are aiming to recruit specialists in their respective fields ahead of the opening of Everton's new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

  • WHAT EVERTON SAID

Everton issued a statement, which read: "Everton Football Club is proud to announce that Christopher Sarofim, Chairman of the global investment manager Fayez Sarofim & Co, has joined the Club’s ownership group, Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited.

"Mr Sarofim brings almost 40 years’ worth of experience in investment, fund management and philanthropy to Everton and its ownership group, which will further strengthen the Club’s financial base. He will become a Board Observer at the Club, which remains under the control of The Friedkin Group.

"Mr Sarofim said: 'I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join the ownership group of Everton - an historic sporting institution with a very exciting future. I have known and admired the Friedkin family for many years and I look forward to working with Marc Watts, The Friedkin Group and everyone at Everton to help the club fulfil its huge potential on and off the pitch.'

"The Friedkin Group Chairman and CEO, Dan Friedkin said: 'Christopher Sarofim is someone I have known and respected for many years. He brings experience, sound judgment and wisdom that will be valuable as we continue to drive the Club forward in all areas.'”
