Free agent Paul Pogba advised to chase the sun alongside Mason Greenwood – with ex-Man Utd star told Marseille would be ‘good move’ as he has ‘never really done it in England’

World Cup winner Pogba is currently without a club and available as a free agent. He saw his contract at Serie A giants Juventus terminated while serving a doping ban. The 32-year-old midfielder has been cleared to resume his professional career.

Various landing spots have been speculated on, with Pogba spending plenty of time in the United States amid links to teams in MLS. A third stint at Old Trafford has also been mooted for the France international, who knows all about the pressure of life in the Premier League.

A homecoming could, however, be taken in as Marseille have admitted to holding interest. Any move there, which would require Pogba to prove his fitness, would see a reunion taken in with former United team-mate Greenwood – who has been experiencing mixed fortunes at Stade Velodrome of late.

Marseille legend Chris Waddle hopes such a switch will be considered, with the ex-England international telling 10bet of what the future holds for Pogba: “It's a hard one, he’s never really done it in England has he, Paul? He came on the scene and he looked the part, and went to Italy. I think that sort of football suits him. A bit slower, it's not box to box, it's more patient.

“Weather conditions sometimes dictate the pace abroad. The sun, the heat. I think he was more suited to that type of game rather than the hustle bustle of England. For me, France, Marseille would be a good move and obviously the Italian league would be a good move for him. I think he’s best suited to one of those two leagues.”

Pogba is yet to land a new contract, with various options continuing to be mulled over. He has not made a competitive appearance since September 2023, but is considered to still have plenty to offer if a lost spark can be rekindled.
