The 'extraordinary' transfer fee Lamine Yamal would command if Barcelona decided to cash in - revealed

Per BBC Sport, the CIES Football Observatory have valued Yamal at an immense figure of €400m. That sum would eclipse Neymar's world-record transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, and Yamal is just 17.

The Barca star signed a new contract earlier this summer, which includes a €1 billion (£842m/$1.1bn) release clause. He has won La Liga twice, and played a vital role as Spain won Euro 2024. The teenager already has over 100 appearances under his belt for Barca too, and is now in line to wear the fabled No.10 shirt at the club, once worn by Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.

The CIES Football Observatory said: "This extraordinary figure is linked to equally extraordinary performances achieved at an age - 18 in July - when most players, even the best, are just starting out at professional level." Yamal's value also increased due to his new contract.

Barcelona would surely put up a serious fight to keep Yamal if any interest were to be expressed. He will next be in action when Spain play France on Friday in the Nations League semi-finals.
