Everton issue statement on 'very unwell' Kevin Campbell after former Toffees and Arsenal striker is rushed to hospital

Campbell was reportedly rushed to hospital after being taken ill. Everton have now sent out a message of support for the striker and have confirmed he is currently 'very unwell'.

Everton posted a statement on X, which read: "We have been made aware our former striker Kevin Campbell is currently very unwell.

"Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time.

"Sending all our love, Kevin Campbell."

Campbell played for the Toffees from 1999 till 2005 and became the Merseyside club's captain. In 160 games with the club, he scored 50 goals and provided 13 assists, most of which helped Everton stay afloat in the Premier League and avoid relegation.

Since the revelation of the legendary striker's ill health, there has been an outflow of messages of support from clubs, players and fans alike wishing for a full recovery.

Campbell's former Arsenal teammate Ray Parlour posted a message on X, he said: "I hear my ex-team-mate Kevin Campbell is struggling at the moment. All the football family are right behind you, Kev. I know you’re a strong character, mate.

"Stay positive. I’m sure everyone is on your side trying to help you. Hopefully, you get well soon mate and you’ll be back flying as usual."

Former England star Trevor Sinclair said: Sending prays, love & light to Kevin Campbell. Absolutely lovely human."
