  • Did shoulder shimmy celebration in front of Varane
  • Six points behind fourth-placed Spurs
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Luiz performed a shoulder shimmy celebration after scoring the equaliser for Aston Villa in the second half. The Brazilian did the celebration right in front of Raphael Varane which angered the French defender. After Scott McTominay scored the winning goal in the 86th minute, Varane confronted Luiz and got involved in a heated altercation.

After the game, Ten Hag claimed that Luiz's celebration might have motivated his team to score a late goal and pick up all three points.

  • WHAT ERIK TEN HAG SAID

Speaking at the post-game press conference, the United boss said, "I don’t have an opinion about that. I haven’t spoken to the players. Maybe it's fueling, I don't know. I don’t think it is important. It is about us, we have to think about our game and not the opposition."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Club legend and former England defender Rio Ferdinand took to X after the game to mock the Aston Villa star for his celebration after the equaliser as he wrote, "U ok @dgoficial".
