    WHAT TOONE SAID

Toone, known for her resilience and determination, has been frequenting the gym to regain fitness, though the road to recovery is proving to be no easy task. Fellow United players Turner and Clinton couldn’t resist poking fun at an exhausted Toone after a particularly gruelling rehab session.

Turner quipped, "Rough day, Tooney?" and in response admitted, "rehab’s no joke".

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before her injury, Toone had been a pillar of consistency for United, appearing in 96 consecutive league matches - the most by an outfield player for the same club in Women’s Super League history. With the timeline for her injury ruling her out for the rest of the calendar year, Toone’s potential return is projected for January 2025. If the rehabilitation progresses as planned, her first match back could be the highly anticipated derby against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on January 19.
