McElhenney has admitted to being a big fan of black kits – having initially been prevented from delivering such a design when Wrexham found themselves in the National League. They have now embraced that theme in back-to-back EFL campaigns.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Wrexham’s change strip for the upcoming League One season looks ahead to the 90th anniversary of the Gresford Colliery Disaster on September 22. The nape of the shirt features a tribute to the 266 victims of the disaster.

The jersey also follows the lead of home and third designs by incorporating a dragon theme – with a scale pattern embedded in the shirt. The button-up collar is considered to offer a “more retro look” in the club’s 160th year of existence.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Wrexham players will wear the new black kit for the first time when facing Fleetwood Town in a friendly on Saturday. They will open the 2024-25 campaign at home to Wycombe on August 10, before heading out on the road to tackle Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup first round.
