    WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have been in regular contact over transfers with each other this summer, with Connor Gallagher, Samu Omorodion and Felix being the players in question. Omorodion's flopped move to Chelsea caused Gallagher's move to be put on hold, but Atletico and Chelsea have since been working on a deal that would send Felix to Chelsea and enable Atletico to finally sign Gallagher.

  • WHAT SIMEONE SAID

While speaking to the media, Simeone responded to questions about Felix's future, saying: "He is doing very well, as you can see.

"His behaviour is what is expected of any footballer at Atleti… commitment, training in the best way, ready for whatever is proposed to him and competing with team-mates.

"Time will tell if we can use him tomorrow or not."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Simeone's words have not revealed much ahead of their La Liga opener against Villarreal. However, it is very well known that the relationship between the Argentine coach and the Portuguese winger has never been steady. As such, it was reported earlier this summer that Felix is very keen on leaving the Wanda Metropolitano.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR FELIX?

Just as Simeone said, only time will tell if Felix will get to play for Atletico Madrid on Monday evening against Villarreal or if his transfer will be put into motion and sealed up before the summer window shuts at the end of the month.
