WHAT HAPPENED?
Coote is currently under investigation by the PGMOL and the FA after a video of him allegedly making derogatory comments about Liverpool and their former manager, Jurgen Klopp, was circulated online. The 42-year-old now faces fresh scrutiny after The Sun shared footage that appears to show him snorting a white powder, believed to be cocaine, while he was officiating at this summer's European Championship.

In the video, a man can be seen using a US bank note to snort a line of a white powder. The Sun claim the video was taken on July 6, one day after Coote acted as a support VAR official for the quarter-final clash between Spain and Germany at Euro 2024. Coote is alleged to have filmed himself in his hotel and sent the clip to a friend.
WHAT PGMOL SAID
“We are aware of the allegations and are taking them very seriously," a PGMOL spokesperson said. "David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation. David’s welfare continues to be of utmost importance to us and we are committed to providing him with the ongoing necessary support he needs through this period. We are not in a position to comment further at this stage.”

Coote has already been stood down and subsequently suspended by UEFA and also won't referee any Premier League games pending the outcome of the investigation. He could potentially face an aggravated misconduct charge after calling Klopp a "German c*nt".
