Cristiano Ronaldo sent message of support by Conor McGregor after Portugal superstar sobs after missing penalty during Euro 2024 win over Slovenia

The Al-Nassr star broke down in tears after failing to convert a penalty in the first half of extra-time in the Euro 2024 round of 16 clash between Portugal and Slovenia. The 39-year-old is yet to open his account in his record-sixth appearance in the European Championship and had a golden opportunity to end his goal drought and guide his team to glory.

Ronaldo, however, converted his spot-kick in the penalty shootout while Diogo Costa made three consecutive saves to send the Selecao to the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win in the tie-breaker. As Ronaldo endured a roller-coaster of emotions, former MMA champion Conor McGregor extended his support to the Portuguese.

The MMA star took to Instagram to upload a photograph of a sobbing Ronaldo and wrote in the caption, "True passion for country! Cristiano, you are the greatest football player to grace this earth! God bless you, brother! The past is glory! The present is history!"
