WHAT HAPPENED?
Ronaldo has been the face of the cryptocurrency platform Binance for about two years. It was through Binance that he began collecting NFTs, or virtual collectables. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner appeared in an advertisement alongside Markovic, a player for Swiss Women's Super League side, Grasshopper. The 24-year-old is also a social media influencer and boasts over three million followers on Instagram.

WHAT MARKOVIC SAID ABOUT RONALDO
In November, Markovic told 20Minuten [via AllFootball]: "My absolute favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo because he's just so disciplined. I think it's super important that you give your all in sport and have a good mindset like him."

WHAT NEXT FOR RONALDO AND MARKOVIC?
The Portuguese superstar is currently on break as the Saudi Pro League has broken due to the commencement of the AFC Asian Cup ongoing in Qatar and will only return when Al-Nassr plays Al-Fateh in mid-February.
As for Markovic, she will return to club action on February 11 with Grasshopper in the Swedish Super League Women when they take on Zurich.
