  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Genoa and Atalanta ace Romero has previously said he wants to move to La Liga one day, following links with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and more. The centre-back also revealed it is a real pain playing against the talkative Jackson and even team-mate Richarlison.

    WHAT ROMERO SAID

When asked where he would like to play next, he told Marca: "I would love to play in La Liga, it's the one I'm missing."

On the most annoying striker he has faced, Romero replied: "Jackson, annoying in his way of speaking. We played away last year, we talked about everything over each other the whole game. Richarlison is another annoying one. I know him now, he's a character. But if I face him with the national team, he's annoying."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

It seems as if a Tottenham exit has been on the cards for some time for Romero. The 27-year-old wants to head to Spain one day but perhaps the promise of Champions League football after their Europa League trophy win will convince him to stay for a while yet.
