At times throughout the campaign, he carried the otherwise struggling Blues and his goals were important as well as numerous. His 101st-minute strike against Manchester United in April, the latest winner in Premier League history, stands out as one of his favourites in Chelsea colours so far.

Competition for places is strong, but Palmer will be hoping to play as big a role as he can at Euro 2024. England have warm-up friendlies against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland coming up in the first week of June, before Southgate must cut seven players to go to the final tournament in Germany. The first group game against Serbia will then take place on June 16.
