Chelsea's next No.1 goalkeeper? Brazil & Athletico Paranaense's Bento on Blues' transfer radar as solution to problem position

Chelsea are plotting a summer transfer bid for the 24-year-old, according to Globo Esporte. However, Inter, Benfica, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are all reported to be in the frame to sign the shot-stopper in the summer.

The race to sign Bento is heating up, the report claims, as Athletico and the player's agent have received enquiries about his contract. His representative will meet with the Brazilian club in the coming days to discuss his situation. Having already rejected €15 million (£13m/$16m) offers for him, the Serie A side will demand significantly more for Bento, who came through the club's youth academy to become a first-team star.

Bento was praised after making his Brazil debut against England last week in the absence of Ederson and Alisson. He has already made 149 appearances fo Athletico since making his senior debut for the club in 2020.

Chelsea may soon make an offer to bring Bento to the Premier League as they look to improve their goalkeeping options to compete with Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic and Marcus Bettinelli available for coach Mauricio Pochettino.
