    WHAT HAPPENED?

It has been reported by the Daily Record, that Wilshere has applied for the opening for the role of head coach at Scottish side, Aberdeen, who recently sacked their Barry Robson after a slew of bad performances in the league. • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The highly regarded former England and Arsenal midfielder has been playing well with the Arsenal youth teams, but Aberdeen are searching for a more seasoned applicant in light of Robson's firing. Wilshere recently had an interview to become the Colorado Rapids' head coach in Major League Soccer. Aberdeen are currently under the management of Peter Leven.

  • WHAT LEVEN SAID

When asked about the future, Leven said: "I would love to tell you more but I am just taking it day-by-day and game-by-game." It's safe to say he gave nothing away.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR ABERDEEN?

With the club sitting in eighth place in the league with just nine game weeks remaining, they will look to find and finalize their head coach as soon as possible if they want to finish the season in the top half of the season. They play their next game on Tuesday, January 6 against Rangers.
