Arda Guler and Victor Osimhen to Man Utd? Ruben Amorim urged to sign 'clever, big game' players as ex-Red Devils striker tells new boss the three things he must do after arriving at Old Trafford

Manchester United announced Amorim as their choice to take over as the Red Devils head coach after sacking Erik ten Hag as the club struggled for form and results. The former Sporting boss has now arrived at Carrington this week during the international break, and Saha, a former striker at United, has laid down advice for the Portuguese coach as he looks to succeed at Old Trafford. Saha also suggested that Amorim should look towards signing Real Madrid's Arda Guler and Galatasaray loanee Victor Osimhen.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, Saha said: "Manchester United have lots they could offer Arda Guler, including more playing time than he gets at Real Madrid currently. United need that type of playmaker who plays with freedom and it’s very difficult for young players to get that at Real Madrid, especially in midfield. He could thrive at United with that opportunity. He needs to play to reach his potential and maybe a loan would suit him after he was so impressive at Euro 2024, he is a very clever player. United need someone who can provide chances to players like Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund, they need a player who is capable of playing that final pass and that could be him."

He also suggested that United should look towards signing Osimhen instead of Viktor Gyokeres, he added: "If you look at the stats, Man Utd should go after Victor Osimhen over Viktor Gyokeres, it’s as simple as that. He’s been scoring goals for four years at Napoli and has done exactly the same since joining Galatasaray, scoring goals for fun. He is a huge character and has the confidence to be a success everywhere he goes. I think there is a bit more of a guarantee behind him given the amount of time he has been successful. He is a big game player and he loves the game, he doesn’t care how his goals go in, he just wants to score and that’s what he does. He is very focused and he reminds me of Erling Haaland in that sense. I think he could be what Man Utd need."

Saha went on to offer advice to Amorim on three things he must do after taking over: "Ruben Amorim needs to bring consistency to Man Utd, give his players confidence in themselves as well as freedom to perform. To win titles they need to win games but show they can do so on a consistent basis, he needs to find the right balance between discipline and freedom to allow his players to be at their best.

"He needs to recreate what he has done with Viktor Gyokeres, a player who was playing in the Championship after failing to break through in the Premier League and giving him the confidence that he has today. The Portuguese league isn’t the same as the Premier League but it’s a similar challenge to get players believing in themselves and playing to the best of their abilities.

"The current players at Man Utd sometimes let their ego get in the way of their performances and they need to reconnect with the fans, look at Liverpool’s players and how they have performed straight away under Arne Slot. Look at the desire of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, that is the commitment we want to see from Marcus Rashford and his team-mates."

The former Sporting boss will officially kick off his tenure as Manchester United boss when they face off against Ipswich Town at Portman Road after the international break on November 24.
