'It would be incredible' - Antony urged to seal return to Real Betis by former team-mate as Man Utd outcast continues fight for Old Trafford exit

The Red Devils are having a tough time offloading Antony, one of the members of the 'bomb squad', in the summer transfer window as the winger is reportedly adamant about returning to Spain and playing for Betis, where he enjoyed a memorable spell in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Antony was recently approached by Benfica, while Saudi Pro League clubs were also keen on signing the Selecao star, but the 25-year-old rejected all the bids. Betis are dragging it later into the window so they can secure a loan move on their terms at a time when the Red Devils will have no other option but to release him.

Speaking to Estadio, 21-year-old Real Betis right full-back Angel Oriz, who played alongside Antony last season, has urged the Spanish to bring back the winger. He said: "I think playing with Anthony or someone of his level was incredible for me. I think he made things much easier, and in the end, I just had to give it to him and run up the field because he did the rest.

"The truth is, playing with him again would be incredible. And I hope that during this transfer window, he can make it happen and continue bringing joy to the Betis fans, which will surely be incredible."

Ruben Amorim's side's pre-season friendlies are over as they now focus on starting the 2025-26 campaign on a positive note when they host Arsenal in their Premier League opener on Sunday.
