Newcastle are set to take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on March 16 in the hunt for their first official trophy since their Championship title win in 2016. However, their hopes of winning the trophy against the Premier League leaders have taken a few blows in recent weeks. The Magpies have suffered injuries to Alexander Isak and Lewis Hall, while Anthony Gordon has been suspended for the clash after his red card against Brighton in the FA Cup.

The Daily Mail's Craig Hope has now reported that Newcastle centre-back Botman is also expected to miss the Carabao Cup final as the Dutch defender has picked up a knee injury and is now set to undergo surgery after he visited a specialist on March 4.
