Alisha Lehmann included in Switzerland's preliminary squad for Euro 2025 on home soil - but Juventus star faces risk of being cut

Lehmann has been granted a lifeline in her bid to represent Switzerland at the Women's Euro 2025, earning a spot in the provisional squad. However, it must be noted that the Juventus forward, who celebrated a successful first season in Italy by lifting the Serie A title, was omitted when Switzerland initially announced their squad for the recently concluded Nations League fixtures against Norway and France.

A last-minute injury to FC Koln’s Alena Bienz, who sustained an ankle issue, opened the door for Lehmann's inclusion. She only managed to make brief substitute appearances with Juventus in the business end of the season, which might explain her initial exclusion from the squad.

During the last two Nations League fixtures, Lehmann saw limited minutes, featuring twice off the bench against France and Norway. Her performances failed to stand out, and with the team finishing at the bottom of Group A2 without a single win, questions have arisen about both the squad's direction and individual contributions.

Head coach Pia Sundhage has limited time to fine-tune her squad before the tournament begins, with the Swiss set to kick off their Euro 2025 campaign on July 2 against Norway in Basel.
