    THE BIGGER PICTURE

He has been keeping them into the top-two hunt over the festive period, with three priceless goals recorded since Boxing Day. The first of those, which was registered in the 88th minute, secured a 2-1 win over Blackpool. Fletcher than grabbed a 91st-minute winner versus Wigan.

  • WHAT PARKINSON SAID

Fletcher was at it again in a meeting with Peterborough, as he netted the only goal of that game three minutes from the end, and Parkinson has been singing his praises. The Wrexham boss has said: “He’s just an incredible player. I think if he was 10 years younger he’d be a £50m player, at least.

“Because he’s just such a talent, he’s a great lad, always about the team, always there to advise the younger players. He’s a terrific fella, he really is. The lads absolutely love him and I’m pleased for him to have special moments.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Parkinson added on a man that will see another short-term contract expire at the end of the season: "It's great for him as well because obviously he's got time left in his career but at his age his career is coming to that stage so to get special moments like that is incredible. We've just got to stop him sprinting off and celebrating and using his energy up!”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Fletcher also scored late on in an opening weekend 3-2 victory over Wycombe, meaning that four of his five goals this season have been decisive. His efforts have helped to keep Wrexham third in the League One table, with Hollywood co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney being given plenty to shout about.
