Both teams to score at Old Trafford

Manchester United are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, with both teams scoring in three of their last four competitive games. Including friendlies, they’ve now gone nine fixtures without shutting the opposition out.

It’s hard to see that record improving against Chelsea. The Blues are the joint-top scorers in the Premier League, with an average of 2.25 goals per game. They’ve scored eight goals in their three competitive away fixtures this term, netting in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek.

While Ruben Amorim’s side have struggled to score in the league, United are underperforming their xG by a huge margin of 6.29. They have the second-highest xG total in the English top flight. Their tally of 8.29 is only bettered by this weekend’s opponents Chelsea (8.75).

Pedro to shine again

Few of Chelsea’s many signings in the Todd Boehly era have settled as quickly as Joao Pedro. The ex-Brighton forward has looked at home from day one in a Chelsea shirt.

The Brazilian played a vital role as Enzo Maresca’s side won the Club World Cup in the summer. He scored twice in the semi-final win over Fluminense and once in the final against PSG. Pedro has backed that up with two goals in four Premier League appearances so far this term.

He has averaged 2.3 shots per game, but has also shown his ability to drop deep and play a creative role. Only Everton’s Jack Grealish can better his return of three assists so far in the competition.

With an implied probability of 52.4%, Pedro looks good value to register a goal contribution against a suspect Man Utd defence.

Mbeumo to fire in the shots

Man Utd have not struggled to create chances or get into shooting positions. They are currently averaging 17.5 shots per 90 minutes, which is more than any other team in the division.

Central to that threat has been new signing Bryan Mbeumo. The 26-year-old averages exactly three shots per game. Of players to have clocked up at least 150 minutes of Premier League action so far this term, only Erling Haaland can better that.

While he’s yet to hit the heights of last season, when he scored 20 goals for Brentford, Mbeumo has been responsible for some of United’s brightest moments.

The Cameroon international scored in back-to-back games against Grimsby and Burnley in August. He was not alone in failing to impress in the Manchester derby last weekend, but still registered four shots in that fixture.

With an implied probability of 42.1%, Mbeumo looks good to have at least three attempts here.
