Xavier Edwards and the Miami Marlins hit the road Thursday for a showdown with Carlos Carrasco and the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

The Marlins are still hanging around the playoff picture, though a pair of recent losses at home to Houston have taken some of the wind out of their sails. Before that stumble, Miami had ripped off five straight wins, including an impressive sweep of the Yankees in the Bronx. The Fish sit third in the NL East, nine games off the pace set by the division-leading Phillies.

Meanwhile, it’s been a bumpy ride for Atlanta in the second half. The Braves have slid to fourth in the division and now trail the Marlins by eight games, with a massive 17-game gulf separating them from the top spot. Atlanta has dropped the first two games of its series with Milwaukee and will be desperate to stop the bleeding when Miami rolls into town.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins MLB game, plus plenty more.

Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins team news

Atlanta Braves team news

The Braves, on the other hand, have leaned on Matt Olson’s pop to stay competitive. Olson leads the club in homers (18) and RBI (68), placing him in the top 50 in home runs and top 25 in runs driven in across MLB. Ozzie Albies and Marcell Ozuna have added some thump of their own, though consistency has been an issue. Michael Harris II continues to flash his potential, but Atlanta’s offense has struggled to put it all together lately.

Carrasco will get the start for the Braves, marking just his second appearance in a starting role this season. He’s 2-2 overall with a 5.68 ERA, and has posted 30 strikeouts against 12 walks. In his most recent outing, Carrasco held the Reds to three runs across six innings, notching a victory.

Miami Marlins team news

For the Marlins, Kyle Stowers is doing the heavy lifting with the bat. He leads the team in both homers (25) and RBI (71), ranking 12th and 19th in the league in those categories, respectively. Otto Lopez has chipped in with 11 home runs and 14 doubles, while Edwards leads all Miami hitters with a .295 average. Agustin Ramirez has also provided some spark with 17 homers, 24 doubles, and a triple to his name.

The Marlins will hand the ball to 22-year-old righty Eury Perez, who’s been a steady presence in the rotation this year. Perez is 4-3 with a 2.70 ERA, and he’s tallied 51 strikeouts while issuing 18 walks. He was excellent in his last outing, tossing six shutout innings in a win over the Yankees.
