Rafael Devers and the San Francisco Giants will try to shake off their recent slump when they square off against Ryan Pepiot and the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.

The Rays enter the matchup sitting fourth in the American League East, trailing the first-place Blue Jays by at least a dozen games and sitting five games shy of a wild card berth. They’ve struggled away from Tropicana Field, playing below .500 on the road, though they’ve managed to win five of their last nine heading into the weekend.

San Francisco, meanwhile, is in a similar boat. The Giants are fourth in the NL West, 10 games behind the Dodgers, and also five games back in the wild card chase. Oracle Park hasn’t been much of a fortress either, with the Giants holding a losing record at home. Coming into Saturday, they were mired in a six-game skid.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch San Francisco Giants vs Tampa Bay Rays MLB game, plus plenty more.

San Francisco Giants vs Tampa Bay Rays team news

San Francisco Giants team news

Devers continues to be the anchor of San Francisco’s offense, clubbing 23 home runs and driving in 81 runs this season, both team highs. Across MLB, he ranks 29th in homers and 11th in RBI. He’ll look to extend his four-game hitting streak, though his recent five-game stretch has been lean at the plate, batting just .182 with one double, one homer, and a lone RBI.

JungHoo Lee has quietly been a spark, batting .257 with 27 doubles, 10 triples, six homers, and 39 walks. While not a power hitter by league standards, he ranks 242nd in home runs, he’s working on a four-game hitting streak of his own, batting .250 in his last five games. Willy Adames (.223, 19 homers, 56 walks) adds pop, while Heliot Ramos paces the club with a .267 average and enters on a modest two-game streak, despite hitting just .136 in his last five contests.

On the mound, San Francisco will hand the ball to Logan Webb. The right-hander owns a 10-9 record with a 3.34 ERA across 25 starts. His last outing against the Padres didn’t go as planned, four runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings in a 4-1 loss. The Giants are 12-13 when Webb pitches this season, including a 6-7 mark at home. While his 3.01 ERA at Oracle is solid, he’s struggled since the All-Star break with a 5.14 ERA.

Tampa Bay Rays team news

Ryan Pepiot, set to start for Tampa Bay, is 8-9 with a 3.86 ERA in 25 outings. The Rays are 10-15 in his starts, but he’s been particularly sharp against National League competition, posting a 1.55 ERA in five starts. His last appearance came on Aug. 11 against Oakland, where he gave up four runs on five hits over 6.1 innings, yet still earned the win in a 7-4 decision.

At the plate, Junior Caminero has been Tampa Bay’s biggest bat, blasting 35 homers and driving in 85 runs, good for sixth and 10th in the majors, respectively. Yandy Díaz has been steady with a .281 average, 20 homers, and 22 doubles, while Brandon Lowe (.272, 24 homers) and Chandler Simpson (.307, 10 doubles) have provided balance throughout the lineup.
