Mexico and Colombia will both be eyeing deep runs at the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer, and they’ll use this weekend's friendly clash as another crucial tune-up ahead of the tournament.
Under the guidance of former Real Mallorca manager Javier Aguirre, Mexico have shown marked improvement over the past year and a half, underlined by their triumphs in both the CONCACAF Nations League and the Gold Cup. El Tri have been steady of late, playing out consecutive draws against Japan and South Korea last month as Aguirre continues to refine his squad.
Colombia, once one of South America's most feared sides heading into the Copa America, remain a formidable outfit even if their form has slightly dipped in recent months. The Cafeteros were in fine attacking rhythm during their last outing, dispatching Venezuela 6-3 in Caracas to continue building momentum.

Team news & squads
Mexico team news
Injuries have forced Mexico into a few key changes. Star striker Raul Jimenez, who topped the scoring charts in both their Gold Cup and Nations League victories, misses out this time due to a fitness issue. Edson Alvarez is another absentee, still regaining sharpness at Fenerbahce after his knock on international duty in September.
With Jimenez sidelined, Santiago Gimenez of AC Milan is set to spearhead the attack, flanked by Hirving Lozano and German Berterame. In the middle of the park, Marcel Ruiz, Erik Lira, and Erick Sanchez could form the engine room for Aguirre's men.
Colombia team news
Colombia, meanwhile, have called up the core group that secured their World Cup berth. Veterans David Ospina, Davinson Sanchez, Yerry Mina, James Rodriguez, and Luis Diaz all return to the fold. There’s also room for attacking reinforcements, with Cucho Hernandez, Yaser Asprilla, and Rafael Santos Borre among those vying for minutes.
After netting four goals in their emphatic victory over Venezuela, Luis Suarez is expected to lead the line once more, supported by Rodriguez and Diaz on the flanks. In midfield, Jefferson Lerma is likely to partner Richard Rios and Kevin Castano, while Sanchez and Mina should anchor the defense for Nestor Lorenzo's side.
