Aston Villa will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins in the Europa League league phase when they head to the Netherlands to take on Feyenoord at De Kuip on Thursday night.
Now led by former Dutch icon Robin van Persie, Feyenoord are expected to bring flair and excitement to Europe this season. However, their campaign began on a sour note with a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Braga a fortnight ago.
With Unai Emery steering the ship, Villa are tipped by many to be serious contenders for the trophy. The Midlands side broke their winless streak with a tight 1-0 victory over Bologna at Villa Park last time out, sealed by a decisive strike from skipper John McGinn.
Like against the Italians, Villa may approach this clash with caution, potentially making for another scrappy encounter, but they will still back themselves to edge past the hosts.

Team news & squads
Feyenoord team news
Feyenoord's defensive ranks have taken a hit with Malcolm Jeng sidelined long-term after undergoing surgery on a lower-leg injury picked up against Groningen. They are also without Gernot Trauner (Achilles), Thomas Beelen (leg), and ex-Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder, though Anel Ahmedhodzic returns after serving a domestic suspension.
In midfield, Quinten Timber—twin brother of Arsenal's Jurrien Timber—is expected to partner Oussama Targhalline, while forward Ayase Ueda, already boasting six goals in nine outings this term, will spearhead the attack.
Aston Villa team news
For Villa, there are concerns over John McGinn, who admitted he nearly came off against Fulham with a knock that left him "unable to run properly." Tyrone Mings also hobbled off in that match and is a major doubt, while Amadou Onana (thigh), Youri Tielemans (calf), and Ross Barkley (fitness/ineligibility) remain unavailable.
Should Mings miss out, either Pau Torres or Victor Lindelof could slot in alongside Ezri Konsa at centre-back. Meanwhile, the likes of Emiliano Buendia, Boubacar Kamara, Ian Maatsen, Donyell Malen, and Jadon Sancho will all be eager to break into the starting lineup after beginning on the bench last time out.
