‘Sell Ramsey & Rabiot to get Pogba back’ – Juventus offered transfer advice by Tacchinardi

Juventus should be looking to offload Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot in the next transfer window, says Alessio Tacchinardi, with sales allowing the Bianconeri to take Paul Pogba back to the club.

The Bianconeri have been heavily linked with a bid to return a familiar face to their ranks.

Pogba departed Turin in a record-breaking £89 million ($108m) deal during the summer of 2016, with Manchester United digging deep in order to land the France international.

A testing second spell at Old Trafford has been endured by the 27-year-old, with questions of his form and attitude never far away.

Juve would happily swing open a door again for Pogba, but the Covid-19 pandemic has forced clubs across the world to tighten their purse strings.

With that in mind, Tacchinardi believes the Serie A champions should seek to free up funds by offloading those on the fringes of their plans.

Wales international Ramsey and France star Rabiot are by no means guaranteed starters and could be deemed surplus to requirements when a battle to land Pogba is taken into account.

Tacchinardi told Tuttosport: “In order to get Pogba back, I would let Rabiot and Ramsey go, even if the Welshman did show a few signs of life in the last few games.”

Juve are also said to be looking into moving Miralem Pjanic out of their midfield unit, with a swap deal being sought with Barcelona that will see Arthur head in the opposite direction.

On that proposed deal, Tacchinardi said: “I have no doubts that for Maurizio Sarri’s style of football, he should hand the reins of the midfield to Rodrigo Bentancur.

“The Uruguayan is made of strong stuff, he has charisma, is always in the right place at the right time, keeps it simple and knows when to pass or pummel.

“He’s not Andrea Pirlo, but then I don’t think Sarri would want a player like that in front of the defence.”

While questioning whether Juve need to be bringing in Arthur, Tacchinardi has also suggested that there is no need to seek the signature of Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa – with the potential of Brescia youngster Sandro Tonali considered to be a better fit for those at the Allianz Stadium.

A man who spent 13 years with the Bianconeri in his playing days added: “I’d rather get Sandro Tonali, who is a rough diamond that Juve can really polish by playing him straight away.

“Gaetano Castrovilli [of Fiorentina] reminds me of Claudio Marchisio.”
