Premier League Betting: Manchester United biggest ever price for derby win despite 150/1 comeback at Juventus

Just a day after Red Star Belgrade stunned the footballing world with a 2-0 win over Liverpool, Manchester United arguably went one better by scoring two late goals to beat Juventus in Turin.

Juan Mata’s pinpoint free kick in the 86th minute cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener before an Alex Sandro own goal turned the game on its head, a comeback akin to those done seemingly regularly in the Sir Alex Ferguson days.

With Juve so dominant and looking set to see out the game, 2-1 to United was priced at 150/1 (151.0) by some firms in-play, whilst before kick-off it was still an appealing 16/1 (17.0) with bet365.

That result should give Jose Mourinho’s men plenty of belief ahead of their trip to neighbours Man City, but bet365 still make them 8/1 (9.0) outsiders – the biggest ever pre-match price on United to win a Premier League game.

“They’ll be buoyed after that trip to Turin and they’re undefeated in their last three visits to the Etihad,” said Steve Freeth of bet365.

“But that won’t be enough to stop Manchester United going off at their longest price ever on Sunday, such is the quality of Pep Guardiola’s team.”

City are available at just 2/5 (1.40) to win the match, whilst the draw can be backed at 4/1 (5.0). It is, perhaps, worth remembering this exact fixture last season though.

Victory for the hosts would have seen them confirmed as Premier League champions and looked to be on the way after going 2-0 up in the first half, but a Paul Pogba brace and Chris Smalling’s winner meant United completed an incredible comeback.

Another 3-2 win for the Red Devils is available at 50/1 (51.0) – the same price as a 6-0 City win, coincidentally the same scoreline the hosts beat Shakhtar Donetsk by on Wednesday – whilst there will certainly be some interest in the Draw or Man United double chance at 2/1 (3.0).

Indeed, United have not lost at the Etihad since November 2014, winning there twice and drawing once since then, and the Old Trafford faithful will certainly be hoping to get something out of their trip across Manchester on Sunday.
