Broich to decide future 'in the next few weeks'

Thomas Broich has claimed "it shouldn't take too long" to decide what to do next after playing his final A-League match for Brisbane Roar.

Speaking after Roar's 1-0 semi-final loss to Melbourne Victory on Sunday, Broich told reporters that he expects to work out what the next step in his career will be in "the next few weeks".

The German attacking midfielder came on for the final 22 minutes at AAMI Park.

Broich is arguably the best import the A-League has seen and he declared he would love to stay in Australia, while also indicating a new adventure elsewhere in Asia could tempt him.

"I love Australia, everyone knows that, and I still enjoy the A-League," said Broich, who announced he will depart Brisbane two weeks ago.

"So we'll see and the next few weeks, it shouldn't take too long and then we'll have an outcome one way or another."

But the 36-year-old insisted he isn't mulling over offers right now.

"In football there's a lot of talk. Unless there's an offer, an actual contract to sign, I don't call it an offer. So up until today it's just talk," he said.

While the semi-final was Broich's final A-League game for Roar, he will have one more opportunity to pull on the club's orange shirt when they host Ulsan in the AFC Champions League on May 10.

Someone who is convinced the two-time Johnny Warren medallist could continue doing a job in the A-League is former team-mate and Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha.

"I don't like to see him go. He's fit. I mean if I see him, he plays like a 22-year-old man," the Kosovo international said.

"I don't know why he should go, he should stay and I just told him [after the game] I wish him all the best whatever he decides and I'm very sad to hear he's not staying in Brisbane."

One option for Broich could be Thailand where ex-Brisbane captain Matt Smith plays for Bangkok Glass.

"My friend 'Smithy' is playing for Bangkok and it's a pretty exciting city, and I'm also a bit of an adventurer, so I wouldn't mind… why not?" Broich said.

Broich paid tribute to Victory for reaching the A-League grand final - "the better team won" - and was unfazed by the realisation that his time with Roar was all but over.

"It feels fairly normal. Maybe it just hasn't hit me yet," he said.
