They are said to be evaluating a wide pool of candidates, with approximately 70 applicants initially expressing interest. Among them are notable figures such as Frank Lampard and Lee Carsley, with the former reportedly already in talks with the management. Owner Doug King is consulting with performance director Dr. Claire-Marie Roberts and head of recruitment Dean Austin before finalising a name, who will face immediate pressure to turn results around.

Van Nistelrooy’s aspirations are not limited to Coventry. Reports suggest he is also open to managing Burnley if an opportunity arises. The Dutchman was previously linked to the Turf Moor job but instead returned to United during that period. Burnley fans have expressed scepticism about current manager Scott Parker, leaving the door open for a potential shakeup.
