  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Mount has been plagued by injury since signing for Manchester United from Chelsea in the summer of 2023. The midfielder has just returned to action with Amorim's side, and was named in the starting XI to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, but was forced off on 12 minutes after suffering a fresh problem. Mount was able to hobble off the pitch unaided but now looks set for another spell on the sidelines. The midfielder's departure forced Amorim to tweak his game plan against City, with Kobbie Mainoo sent on to replace Mount.

Mount appeared set for a fresh start at United following the arrival of Amorim. The Portuguese boss has been full of praise for Mount and the desire he has shown to get back in the team after a string of injury problems. The 25-year-old put in an impressive cameo in midweek against Viktoria Plzen, and would have hoped to have followed that up against City, but now looks to be facing more time on the treatment table instead.
