'Merci, PSG' - Tottenham fans thank French giants for dumping rivals Arsenal out of Champions League before controversial banner is removed by stewards

A few Spurs fans unfurled a banner at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday ahead of the club's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace. The banner had the words, 'Merci, PSG' written. It was a gesture to thank the French champions for knocking their arch-rivals out of the Champions League semi-finals earlier this week.

The group of fans, however, could not keep the banner for long as a club steward swiftly reacted and took it down. Arsenal had reached the Champions League last-four stage for the first time in 16 years after beating reigning kings Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. Luis Enrique's side, however, had the last laugh as they reached the final, beating the English side 3-1 on aggregate.

Ange Postecoglou's side will aim to end their four-game winless run in the Premier League as they look to secure all three points against Crystal Palace in their penultimate home game of the season.

The north London club's main focus remains on winning the Europa League as they face Manchester United in the final in Bilbao on May 21.
